The Casino Chip and Gaming Token Collectors Club, Inc. wrapped up its 22nd annual convention on June 21 at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa. From opening day on Thursday morning to closing moments on Saturday, laughs, smiles and casino memorabilia were abundant.

Two rare casino chips sold at convention

At this year’s Casino Chip and Gaming Token Collectors Club convention, the sale of two unique chips caused tremendous excitement when their stories were revealed. An extraordinarily rare $5 chip from the Golden Goose sold for a whopping $75,000. The Golden Goose was located at 20 E. Fremont Street, Las Vegas, Nevada, (currently the site of Glitter Gulch) and was open from 1975 to 1980, as a slots-only casino with the exception of a single blackjack table. The table was only open for a few months between late 1976 and early 1977. When it went away, so did all the chips, making this $5 chip the only one known to exist. This same chip went for over $3,000 at auction in the mid-1990s. ...

CCGTCC announces volunteer banquet speaker

The Casino Chip & Gaming Token Collector’s Club, Inc. is pleased to announce that Jonathan Ullman, Executive Director of The Mob Museum in Las Vegas, will be speaking at the volunteer’s banquet on Saturday, June 2, 2014, at 7 p.m. The volunteer’s banquet is the wrap up for the 22nd convention of the world’s largest club devoted solely to collecting casino memorabilia. The hobby has expanded exponentially into every aspect of gaming in America as well as across the entire world. No item too small or too large that has an identifiable logo or casino name attached to it goes uncollected.
