Southeast Coin Clubs host holiday parties, auctions

FLORIDA

Ancient City Coin Club's  Christmas party was December 16th at Denny's. The club paid for the dinner. The club election was as follows: President - Charlie Stuart, VP - Jim Silvia, Treasurer - Travis Bucci, Corresponding Secretary - David James, Recording Secretary ­- Katey Stuart. Board members are David James and Phil Nicely.

Brandon Coin Club  had its holiday party at Villa Rina on December 17th. There were 40 members at the last meeting. The club election was as follows: President - Joshua S., VP - Paul G, Newsletter ­- Kim S.

Casselberry Coin Club  collected 320 items for its food drive. The holiday party was December 3rd. The club provided pizza, salad and drinks. The members brought side dishes. They also had a show n tell.

Central Florida Coin Club  had its holiday party at the VFW Post in Apopka. The club supplied the meat and drinks. The members were asked to bring a side dish or dessert. They collected for Toys for Tots as well as canned goods for Casselberry's food drive.

Ft. Lauderdale Coin Club's  new theme is, "It's All About The Club," meaning it would like to get everyone involved in making the club better. Every quarter, a board member and regular member will be recognized for their contributions to the club with the Lou Kleinman Memorial Award. Its holiday party was December 12th at Tropical Acres in Ft. Lauderdale.

Ft. Walton Coin Club  had 70 members present at its last meeting. Jayne Lycan gave a presentation on "The History and Legislation Leading to the Issuance of the Eisenhower Dollar."

Gold Coast Coin Club studied the ANA course, "The Modern Mint Process." Its holiday party was December 5th at the Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale.

Greater Daytona Coin Club  had its holiday party at the Clubhouse Restaurant. They had a gift exchange, member present drawing, door prize drawing and 50/50 drawing.

Greater Jacksonville Coin Club  had its Christmas party and awards banquet at the Ramada Conference Center.

Greater Ocala Coin Club  had its Christmas party December 17th at Logan's restaurant, dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by the auction. A guest band preformed throughout social time and dinner.

North Lake Coin & Currency Club's  meeting December 11th featured social time, the raffle, 50/50 drawing and the auction.

Palm Beach Coin Club's Christmas party was December 11th with party platters from Costco and all the members bringing a covered dish. Every officer and Board member received a silver eagle for their service to the club in 2013. Chuck Heck was named Club Member of the Year for 2013. The White Elephant Sale brought in $321 to the club. Eighty-six members attended.

Sarasota Coin Club  had 53 members at its last meeting. There was a snack buffet with everyone bringing a dish. Bart Bartanowicz presented, "Collecting Commemorative Dollars and the option of Assembling Topical Sets."

South Brevard Coin Club  had its Christmas party December 4th at Golden Corral. Among the raffle prizes were gold coins.

Tallahassee Numismatic Club will have a one day coin show Saturday May 10th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., free admission, with a raffle, hourly drawings and a silent auction.

Titusville Coin Club  had its Christmas dinner featuring Hunter's Chicken and lots of accompaniments. After a large auction, the all silver raffle had eight silver eagles and a Panda. The annual gold coin was won by Col. John Howard.

Treasure Coast Coin Club  is making final preparations for its January 18-19th Coin Show. The Christmas party had everyone bring a covered dish. The club provided the meat, dessert and drinks.

West Hernando Coin Club  coin show on November 23rd went well and was well attended. Its next club show is February 15th. YN James Manaco spoke about his experience of taking a coin grading seminar by ICG's Skip Fassaro.

GEORGIA

Augusta Coin Club  had over 50 members at its last meeting. Garry Naples gave a power point presentation on "Southern Currency, Banks and Bonds." The club membership currently stands at 120.

NORTH CAROLINA

Lower Cape Fear Coin Club  had its Christmas dinner at The Boathouse Restaurant with seafood and prime rib. Bob N. gave a program on the "Basics of Coin Photography." Thirty-five were in attendance at the dinner. Outgoing officers received a silver eagle.
