George Washington was the top vote getter in the Kids Zone presidential vote at the Atlanta National Money Show. Washington edged out Lincoln with 38.1 percent of the vote, reports National Volunteer Marilyn Reback.
Most people are unaware of the fact that the U.S. Mint once produced a 20 cent piece. This coin was authorized by the Act of March 3, 1875, and lasted until 1878. This coin was widely confused as a quarter by the public. The coin weighed five grams, the weight of a modern nickel, and was 90 percent silver. Also, this coin was 22 millimeters in diameter while a quarter was 24.3 mm.
I was introduced to the numismatic community through friend and mentor Lee Minshull in May of last year. It all began when I purchased silver, ninety percent coins in as an investment but it sparked my interest in numismatics and coin collecting. From that day forward I have always been trying to better educate myself in numismatics. Being a young numismatist myself, I have found that there are many great resources to help further my education.
