It's time the Board had a more youthful member to help guide the ANA into the future. With youth comes fresh perspective, creativity and
problem-solving abilities totally different from established thought processes.
However, youth should not be mistaken for inexperience. I hold a doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Florida and have served the ANA
in several leadership capacities. Most notably, I have served as a national convention volunteer and district representative since 2002, and was
appointed chairperson of the Young Numismatist (YN) and Scout Committee from 2007 to 2009. Since then, YN membership has increased 20 percent, and
several YN programs have been created or reinvigorated.
While YNs may be the future of our hobby, I also feel the ANA¹s educational mission is fundamental to the organization¹s health. Many
numismatists do not take full advantage of membership benefits, so I wish to promote current educational programs and establish new ones.
Balancing the budget and keeping finances in line will be an important task facing the next Board. It will be vital to increase revenue streams
through encouraging donations and financial support from our members and the numismatic community.
Some of my goals as governor include:
1) Supplying vision, innovation and knowledge to the Association.
2) Strengthening the ANA¹s educational mission through the new Florence Schook School of Numismatics.
3) Keeping the budget in line, and increasing donations and financial gifts.
4) Serving as an advocate for the encouragement and growth of young collectors.
5) Increasing membership through recruitment and retention.
6) Providing incentives to clubs and dealers who support the ANA and its mission.
7) Promoting ANA Scouting-related numismatic programs, such as merit badge clinics and the coin collecting booth at the National Scout
Jamboree.
ANA Recognitions: 2003 Outstanding Young Numismatist; 2005 Century Club;
2007 Glenn Smedley Memorial Award; 2008 Member Booster Award; and 2008 Outstanding District Representative.
If you believe the Board needs some fresh views, youthful enthusiasm and innovative ideas, then vote Jeff Swindling for governor!
