Tom has been an active numismatist for over 40 years, with interests ranging from early U.S. silver to ancient coins. He holds life memberships in the American Numismatic Association, Maryland State Numismatic Association (MSNA) and Florida United Numismatists (FUN). He was general chairman of the 2003 World¹s Fair of Money® in Baltimore and public registration chairman in 1992 and 2008. He is past president of MSNA, Baltimore Coin Club, Central Florida Coin Club and the Ancient Numismatic Society of Washington. He received an ANA Presidential Award in 2002 and participated in two Summer Seminars. He also was bourse chairman for the MSNA show for five years.

    Tom is involved in numismatic education and outreach. His articles on Bust half dollars and ancient coins were published in The Numismatist. He wrote several scripts used in the ANA radio series Money Talks and has given Numismatic Theatre presentations at five major coin conventions. He served as ANA district delegate for central Maryland. Tom won first place for exhibits of ancient coins at the ANA conventions in Philadelphia (2000) and Baltimore (2008). He also won the 2000 Thos. H. Law Memorial Award as best first-time exhibitor. Further, he is an ANA certified exhibit judge.

    Tom served on the board of directors of FUN for 16 years and was FUN public registration chairman for 6 years. He was the 1984 winner of FUN¹s literary award for an article on Bust half dollars. Tom enjoys speaking to civic groups, school classes and Boy Scout troops. He also has given presentations to coin clubs throughout Florida and the Baltimore area.

    Tom is a recently retired budget and financial manager for the defense industry. He is a graduate of the University of Florida and San Diego State University.

    As governor, Tom will promote numismatic education, fiscal responsibility and increased public outreach. He will work to improve communications among the ANA, collectors and dealers. His goal will be to parlay the goodwill brought about by the ³reform² Board into increased ANA membership.
