Virginia Numismatic Association 56th Annual Convention, Coin and Currency Show

Fredericksburg, VA –The Virginia Numismatic Association will hold its 56th annual convention, coin and currency show, September 26-28 (Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00PM, Saturday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Sunday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM) at the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center, 2371 Carl D. Silver Pkwy, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.  This is our 4th year in Fredericksburg and its looking like we are on course for another successful show.

            The VNA convention, coin and currency show is the largest in Virginia.  Dealers at 140 tables will offer U.S. and foreign coins and paper money, ancients, gold and silver, Civil War currency, tokens, medals, supplies, and other items.  In addition to buying, selling, and trading of numismatic items, the SEGS grading service and ANACS grading service will be on site for submitting coins for authorization and grading.  David Schankman and Eric Schena will be manning a table to help identify Virginia Tokens that have not been previously Identified and will be photographing them for the new Virginia Token book that is in the works.

            Exhibits of numismatic materials will be a special attraction with a variety of themes.  Coin enthusiasts of will find fun activities at the youth area.  A Boy Scout coin collecting merit badge workshop will be held on Saturday, September 27, 1-3:00 PM.

            Steve Roach, editor of Coin World will be the guest speaker at the awards banquet on September 27 (advance reservation required).  His topic is “Ten Factors that are changing the way that we collect coins today (and how they may affect coin collecting in the future)”

            Admission and parking are free for the convention and coin show events.  Pre-show “early bird” admission is $35 during dealer setup starting at 3:00 PM on September 25.  Raffle tickets will be sold in books of 6 for a $5 contribution to support VNA’s educational work.  There will be hourly drawings for numismatic items and a gold coin at the end of each day of the show.
