Chicago’s fourth star, ‘Century of Progress,’ featured on 2015 World’s Fair of Money commemorative medal

Medallic artist Jamie Franki has created a beautiful and stunning commemorative medal for the American Numismatic Association’s 2015 World’s Fair of MoneySM, coming to the Donald E. Stephens Center in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, Illinois, Aug. 11-15, 2015. The medal, the fourth in a series inspired by the stars on the Chicago municipal flag, depicts the city’s famed 1933-34 World’s Fair, the Century of Progress.

Official 2009 World’s Fair of Money Medals Now Available

The official medal for the American Numismatic Association’s 118th Anniversary Convention,August 5-9 in Los Angeles, is now available. Designed by Garrett & Michelle Burke and AlexShagin, the medal celebrates the convention’s host city and the grandeur of numismatics.The obverse design showcases the excitement and glamour of Los Angeles. Lights comingfrom L.A. hills accent images of past commemorative coins honoring California, includingthe 1936 Bay Bridge half dollar and the 1915-S Panama-Pacific Exposition $50. At the top, anangel searches for something amidst the lights and coins. The reverse features the sameangel, Numisma – sister of Lady Liberty, this time holding a wreath of discovery. The scenebrings to life the convention’s theme, “Discover Your Golden Dreams.”

U.S. Mints first steam press to strike medals for ANA

The first steam press used by the United States Mint will strike medals for the American Numismatic Association (ANA). It also will be on display at the ANA World's Fair of Money next summer in Philadelphia and at the Association's Money Museum in Colorado Springs, Colorado after the show.
