This baby is a super-cool pattern piece that features one of several mottoes that were proposed before “In God We Trust” was officially adopted. Struck in copper, there are only 27 certified examples of this coin, making it an R-5 (between 31 – 75 pieces are believed to exist) and highly desirable in all grades. This is the 1863 50-cent J-341, certified in NGC MS63RB and CACed.
Other mottoes proposed before “In God We Trust” was officially adopted include“God, Liberty, Law”, “Our Trust Is In God”, “Our God And Our Country” and of course the pictured “God Our Trust”.
