Texas Numismatic Association Additions to My Morgan Collection

Coins-United States | FortWorthCollector

I was able to add these two nice examples of Morgan dollars to my collection recently at the Texas Numismatic Associations coin show in Arlington, Texas. I usually don’t look specificly for Proof like coins just because it is challenging enough to find nice coins for the regular grade let alone proof like but this one just fell in my lap. I couldn’t pass it up for the price and I think it adds nicely to the set.

New Additions to My Morgan Dollar Set

National Money Show | FortWorthCollector

This year the National Money Show was held at the Irving convention center in Irving, Texas. Since the National Money Show was being held in my neck of the woods I decided to take friday off and see how much trouble I could get into. I was able to add an 1878 7/8TF Weak VAM-41A, 1884, and 1890 to my collection. See the pictures below or visit my updated set on my profile.

My National Money Show Trades

National Money Show | FortWorthCollector

As some of you may know I already had an 1882-S in an Ancas holder. I decided to clear all of my Ancas holders out except for the low end coins and Mint errors. I did this because I have seen how hard they are to try and get rid of in the future. Most dealers will sell you an Ancas holdered coin but won’t buy it back no matter how nice the coin is. So I had an opportunity at the National Money Show to trade My 1882-S in so I did and the pictures below show my new 1882-S in a PCGS holder. I think it is just as good a coin or even better than the old one.

New additions to my Morgan Dollar Set

Coins-United States | FortWorthCollector

The ANA World’s Fair of Money in Denver was very kind this last year to my Morgan Dollar collection. I was able to add 5 new coins to the set. As most of you know my main goal was to pick up an 1893-S as it is one of the rarest coins of the set in any grade. I am very pleased with the one I was able to obtain that was in my price range. I was also able to acquire a nice 1899 Mirco O which I have had a hard time finding in my local area in nice grades. The 1901-O, 1904 & 1921-S I was able to get in mint state grade that fit my budget. I hope everyone enjoys the photos and coins. Also I would like to mention that for Christmas I received a new DSLR camera so I hope that I will be able to share even better looking photos in the future.

Day 3 of World’s Fair of Money Vacation (Denver Mint & Argo Gold Mine & Mill Tour)

World's Fair of Money | FortWorthCollector

For the third day of my trip, I had changed my itinerary to include the Denver Mint instead of going on the forth day as I had planned. So I woke up around 4:00 and got dressed and headed out of Colorado Springs so that I could be first in line to get tickets for the Mint Tour. To my surprise they had closed the Mint tours that week because the security that works the tour was at the show. I was able to get a picture of the front gate though. After leaving down town Denver I headed to Idaho Springs to go on the Argo Gold Mine & Mill tour. It was a great tour and very informative but if you have bad knees I would not recommend it.
