IT'S TRUE ANOTHER PEACE DOLLAR TOP 50 VAM

Coins-United States | Longstrider

Since most people here have seen many of my Peace Dollar VAM's, I have decided to just do a smaller blog on my latest pick-up. Below is my 1923 Peace Dollar VAM-2—DOUBLED TIARA—TOP 50. It was slabbed and graded by ANACS as an AU 58. There is a tremendous amount of mint luster so maybe graded a little light. But who doesn't feel that?

1923-S PEACE DOLLAR VAM 1C

Coins | Longstrider

Here I have an example of my favorite silver dollars. a 1923-S Peace Dollar. This example happens to be graded AU-58. I find a nice AU generally has a better eye appeal than many MS 60-62's. Personal preference. It's hard to see in my photos but this example has nice luster and cartwheel left in it. It is also a Vam 1C. It is a bit harder to see with the naked eye than some of my examples but that means it has a pitted reverse under and above the "N" in one. It is believe this was caused by using rusted dies. Often the dies were used well past their projected life span. There are also some lesser attributes but I leave it up to the reader to research them. I also like the giant thumb print on the obverse. This coin was used as money. Not only touched with gloved hands. Imagine what it could have bought..Anyway I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to your comments. Thanks for looking!

1882-O Vam-29A Super CD Morgan

Coins | Longstrider

For your consideration I have a 1882-O Morgan Silver Dollar that is also a Super CD VAM 29-A. The Super CD simply means it is part of a collection of 25 VAM dollars that have "Clashed Dies". I'm not going to go anymore into the Super CD part. You can find out all about it on the site listed below. The 1882-O VAM 29-A means the coin has doubled date, clashed obverse G & first T and clashed reverse M. There is also the beginning of some toning starting to happen on both surfaces. I have included 2 pictures from the listed web site to help show the die crack and clashed G. It's is hard to see in the photos of my coin without the use of a loupe. The coin is graded AU 58 by ANACS. Some people shun non mint-state coins. Personally I find the an AU is often more pleasing to the eye. My eye anyway and that's the one I care about. I was lucky enough to win this coin on an internet auction. I can highly recommend these auctions as a good way to see and purchase coins. Some companies do have a high after auction premium so be careful and read the terms. Thanks for looking. I hope you enjoy this coin as much as I do.

1878 7/8 TF VAM-38 MORGAN SILVER DOLLAR

Coins | Longstrider

So my wife and I thought we would try out a coin show in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago, that we had never been to before. Much to our surprise it was a perfect smallish size to fit my limited walking capabilities. There were maybe 50 tables set up. Everything was very nice quality and boy were the dealers ready to dicker in price!
