Raw or Junk Metals at Shows
Just been noticing the last few months at the local shows - Very little raw or junk metal available - Is it being held or is it skipping this segment of the system - Is it all going directly to the refiners ? Will we shift to a metals based monetary system in the future ? - How will that effect the collectible product in the marketplace ? - I know this not very blog like, but I thought i would just start a conversation & get opinion & feedback
Good weekend everyone

For coins shows the dealers have to be more choosy in what they bring in order to cover expenses and make profits. Most dealers can sell their silver coins or otherwise for the best profit from their stores.

Dealers bring what they can sell for a profit. Silver coin junk box coins bought 6 months ago would be hard to sell for a profit so they sit and wait for silver to go back up or get put in to the silver melt and refining product stream. As a side note on this some topic, I would propose that you would find little to no interest in a dealer buying junk silver coins because dealers buy what they can sell (usually quickly).

it seems like the premiums on the mint coins are waaay up - ie: eagles are about $22-$25 - the generic rounds are $18-$22 & what junk you do find is about 15% over spot -

Well, I am not an expert, but silver has been down lately. Junk silver may not be worth bringing. I have not been to a coin show since March (the Portland ANA show), but I will be going to one on Nov. 21st!
