Possible Earror

Coins | user_26837

While searching through some old pennies I found a 1958 lincoln penny with the top loop of the 8 plugged. Has anyone else encountered this coin?

That looks like a die crack from the photo. Nice find!

When dies get worn, sometimes I will see mint marks and numbers of dates sometimes filled, that is the correct term, not plugged. Plugged refers to a hole that was drilled, for instance for a necklace and then repaired. The repaired hole filler is the plug.

Die chip. Nice eyes! Usually they are found in the 9, but it's not unheard of on other numbers.

Can't see well the error nor the coin details. However, it seems uncommon. Good luck.
