In a different thread, It was just brought up that on numismatic items (like slabs) seems like a "wrong" place to advertise. I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on this subject. Personally, I think that it is a wrong place. As Mike B said on the other thread, coins are not big buses with ads, or billboards in Times Square.

It's almost like buying a car from a dealer; there are bumped stickers or custom plate frames (the plastic bit that goes around the actual license plate) which have the dealerships name on it. Kinda irriating, but what can you do?

Well, you can buy a new frame, but who would want to pay for something they already have? It's like having the coin re-slabbed.

True, but like you say, who wants to go to all the trouble and expense? (Although you could theoretically just take the frame off yourself, which is like cracking a slab open, but not as harmful, I guess)
