20 Cent Pieces

If I don't own the book I like to ask questions...at least until I get the book...  The 20 Cent Piece series, as you know, is a very short one.  Typically considered to be a "type" coin I want to collect these as a series...most likely without the proof issues.  Have any of you collected the entire series of these, minus the proofs of course.  Maybe you have the proof issues but they're too expensive for me.  I don't plan on putting these in an album either..I want them all in PCGS holders...only because I trust them and I like their holders.  Speaking for myself, I know this can be rather expensive...I'm expecting that as I've already researched mintages, values and availability.  I consider this a "sleeper" set, like the Seated Liberty Half Dimes...Low mintages and relatively low demand.  I believe if demand for these went through the roof, naturally so would the prices..Wish me luch.....haha

I plan on only getting one for my type set, but I would only be able to afford a low grade until I get a job. It's pretty convenient when they are in low demand, because of the lower prices. But that also means that not as many dealers will have them for sale. Good luck!

I have two; I intend to put a set together. but I have several that I am working on. I always go with a list of the sets I'm working on, so that I can be sure of making some progress in each area I am collecting.
I need one more two cent, a heck of a lot of three cent nickels and Indian cents, and just a couple of Buffalo Nickels.
I've started, kind of by accident, collecting capped bust half dollars. Thats a set I'll never complete. But I will see how many I can get.

I love those old Bust Halves but have never started a set.  Maybe someday when I get my current sets completed

I don't have any twenty cent pieces. I wanted to comment on the certified slabs or holders. I know PCGS is considered #1, but I actually like the NGC holders better. I don't like the clear surrounding on PCGS holders.  I trust NGC also on grading. Just like their holders better. I do have pcgs graded coins, but always prefer ngc. A set of twenty cent pieces or even a nice collection of twenty cent pieces would be something to be proud of. I am more of an accumulation collector now. Just look for coins I like. Keep us updated ! Thanks

Outside of the sets I am either trying to complete or working hard to upgrade I will only pick these up if the price is right.  I hope your able to complete without too much cash  leaving the old pocket, please keep us posted.  Good luck.

Yeah I'm cheap. I'll buy slabbed coins but I have never paid and sent them off. I can't afford what they charge when I can use that money to get the coins I want. And I would rather buy nice coins ungraded. I trust my eye. I can buy more coins that way

Have at it. Challenging would be an understatement, but to complete one would be a great accomplishment considering very few would even think of doing so.

I expect this project to take about 5 years to complete....considering the pace that I have collected other sets in the past.  I still have many unfinished sets that I've neglected that need attention but when something else catches my eye I go with it.
