I am wondering if someone could tell me if they think this coin has been cleaned in anyway? Also I am wondering if it is a MS-63.Â

The only real way to determine if it has been cleaned is to submit it to NGC or PCGS. It appears to be a very nice looking coin. But the holder does not appear to be from any grading service, so the MS63 is just one persons opinion.

It is in an older, PCI holder. They've been around for quite a while; under new ownership in recent years. It's too difficult to determine if your coin has been cleaned based on the photos. As far as the grade is concerned - does it look like a $40,000 coin in person? That's one heck of a condition rarity piece if it's a true 63! Show it to the people who could best help with coin grading at a local coin club meeting and/or coin show and see what others think too.

I would ultimately recommend submitting it to a professional grading service. This relatively cheap price will give you confirmation of the genuine nature of the coin as well as the grade and whether it has been cleaned or not. There is virtually no downside to submitting it to PCGS or NGC.

There is no way possible to determine if this coin has been cleaned. I only deal with the top two graders in the world.NGC and PCGS. The oldest grading company is ANACS but for some reason people don't have the trust as the other two. Your going to have to send it to one of the two.
