TIME EXTENDED FOR ANA NUMISMATIC INTERN APPLICANTS
The deadline has been extended for the "numismatic
opportunity of a lifetime" - the American Numismatic Association's
(ANA) and Numismatic Guaranty Corporation's (NGC) numismatic
internship. Applications will be accepted until May 15.
"This new internship on coin grading and counterfeit
detection offers an exceptional opportunity for growth and
learning," says Gail Baker. "The ANA has a long history of
producing some of the finest numismatists the hobby has known.
Many influential numismatists, graders, authenticators and dealers
got their start at the ANA, and, with this program, we hope to
continue that legacy."
During the 10-week program this summer, the intern will:
- Study counterfeit detection, coin grading, conservation, variety
attribution and much more in the Museum Services Department and
Authentication Bureau at the ANA's Colorado Springs, Colorado,
headquarters.
- Take courses at the ANA's 32nd Annual Summer Seminar.
- Satisfy requirements for the ANA's Numismatic Diploma.
- Work at the ANA World's Fair of Money 2000 in Philadelphia.
- Study for two weeks with NGC's professional graders in
Parsippany, New Jersey.
"To better serve the needs of applicants, we pushed back the
start date of the internship from June 3 to June 15," Baker says.
"This enables us to extend the application deadline a month, from
April 15 to May 15."
The internship is open to ANA members age 18 or older.
Included are transportation; room and board; and a weekly stipend.
To apply, send a resume describing your educational and
numismatic background to the ANA Education Department, 818 N.
Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903-9723; telephone
719/632-2646; fax 719/634-4085. Applicants should include a
daytime telephone number.
