ANA SELECTS NEW CONTROLLER
The American Numismatic Association (ANA) has selected Carol Shuman,
a Colorado Springs accountant with an extensive background in non-profit
and for-profit financial work, as the Association's new controller.
"During my years on the board of the Greater Colorado Springs
Chamber of Commerce, I came to know and respect Carol's work," says ANA
Executive Director Christopher Cipoletti. "She has the general ledger,
financial and fund accounting skills we need, as well as the budgetary
analysis experience to make her a strong fiscal leader for the
Association."
Shuman says, "I am looking forward to working with the ANA staff and
the challenges of the job. The ANA has a great reputation in this
community, and I am pleased with the opportunity to be a part of this
great organization."
Replacing long-time ANA employee Ruthann Brettell, who retired from
the staff, Shuman will handle accounting and budgetary duties for the
American Numismatic Association, headquartered in Colorado Springs,
Colorado, and is the world's largest, nonprofit, educational
organization chartered by Congress for collectors of coins, paper money,
tokens and medals.
During her tenure at the nonprofit Chamber of Commerce, Shuman
served as vice president of finance and human resources. For nearly 20
years, she worked as a bookkeeper, accountant, auditor and controller
for retail, hospital, hotel and construction industries.
Shuman, a graduate of National College, is knowledgeable in a wide
variety of network, mainframe and PC computer programs. She is a past
board member of the Colorado Springs chapter of the Institute of
Management Accountants.
She will join the ANA staff on March 17.
