ANA Accepting Applications for New Executive Director

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The American Numismatic Association is accepting applications for a new executive director.

“The entire board is excited at the process of selecting a new executive director to manage the association over the next decade,” ANA President Tom Hallenbeck said. “We’ve analyzed the executive director’s role and reevaluated the qualities needed to help our nonprofit association thrive.”

Hallenbeck said the executive director must have extensive knowledge of nonprofit management skills with the ability to initiate, implement and successfully complete programs and objectives.

The minimum criteria are five years management experience in a nonprofit or related organization, including supervision of a least a 30-person staff, along with strong communication, fundraising, consulting, business, negotiation, problem resolution, mediation, communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working with a board is highly desirable. The selected candidate must be willing to relocate to Colorado Springs, be able to work on weekends and evenings, and travel periodically.

The ideal candidates will have knowledge of and experience within a collector-based community – such as numismatics – in roles such as a collector, dealer, author or researcher. Applicants must be able to build relationships within the numismatic community, to understand and implement the ANA’s mission, objectives and strategic goals, and be able to convey that understanding and implementation to the Board of Governors, staff members, ANA members and others outside the numismatic field.

Resumes must be submitted by Jan. 31, 2012, to Tom Hallenbeck, President, Executive Director Search – Confidential, American Numismatic Association, 818 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903 or by e-mail to ExDirSearch@money.org.
