ANA Authenticator announces resignation

Brian Silliman, authenticator for the American Numismatic Association (ANA) Collector Services, is leaving the ANA staff at the end of August to seek other opportunities in the field.

“Brian is and has been a great asset to the staff since he began as an intern for the ANA Money Museum,” says Executive Director Edward C. Rochette. “Brian not only knows his subject, but also has been a great asset at our Summer Seminars and coin grading seminars, as well as a major contributor to the ANA’s and International Association of Professional Numismatists’ Counterfeit Coin Bulletin.

Silliman says, “I am very fortunate to have had this great opportunity to work at the ANA. I hope others coming up in numismatics will have the same chance I have had to learn and advance in this field.”

Rochette says the search for Silliman’s replacement will begin immediately. Silliman, 32, joined the ANA staff in 1998, after an eight-week museum internship. A graduate of Occidental College in Los Angeles, California, with a degree in history, Silliman was a coin dealer before joining the ANA staff.
