Research Services

Education, information and research are critical to the full enjoyment of numismatics. The ANA Library staff happily helps members find answers to their numismatic questions.

Research

For basic requests and questions, the library staff will provide answers at no charge.

For in-depth research requests (which typically involve multiple sources), the library staff can provide information on numismatic subjects.

The research fee is $50 per hour (minimum one-hour) plus any photocopy or digital scanning charges. Library staff can provide an estimate of the time needed to complete a project or patrons may specify a maximum monetary amount.

Photocopies

The library staff can photocopy pages from books, magazines and auction catalogs (within copyright restrictions) and mail them anywhere in the world. Patrons can receive the articles along with a list of sources and citation information, upon request. Please note that there will be a fee for shipping costs associated with this service based on the size and weight of the photocopied document(s).

Fees for this service:

  • $0.25 per copy with a minimum charge of $5 for ANA members plus USPS shipping charges.
  • $0.50 per copy with a minimum charge of $10 for nonmembers plus USPS shipping charges.

Digital Scans

The library staff can scan pages from books, magazines and auction catalogs (within copyright restrictions) and email them anywhere in the world. Patrons can receive the articles along with a list of sources and citation information, upon request.

Fees for this service:

  • $0.25 per copy with a minimum charge of $5 for ANA members.
  • $0.50 per copy with a minimum charge of $10 for nonmembers.

 ANA Archives

The ANA Library contains archives that are unique to our research facility and have information on a wide range of topics. Archive documents are available to researchers and scans may be upon request. Prices for scans of ANA Library archives are higher than scans of published documents due to the time involved in locating items and preparing scans.

If you will be using ANA archive documents for publication, please contact the ANA Library staff for information on permissions and fees for use.

Fees for this service:

  • $1.00 per scan with a minimum charge of $25 for ANA members
  • $2.00 per scan with a minimum charge of $50 for nonmembers

This portal includes sixteen indexes from various organizations and periodicals. Copies of articles listed in this search engine may be obtained from the ANA Library by contacting the staff. Please see above for the schedule of charges for this service.
