ANA awards three internships for summer 2001

The American Numismatic Association (ANA) has selected three interns to study and work at its headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The interns will be working through the summer.

Samantha H. Bobbitt, a senior majoring in journalism at the University of Northern Colorado, is interning in the Public Relations Department. She expects the internship will provide helpful experience to supplement her school work. Bobbitt, a native of Colorado Springs, hopes to aid in publicizing the re-opening of the ANA museum and library, currently being renovated. She is the daughter of ANA Public Relations officer Stephen L. Bobbitt.

Cameron Wade Kiefer of Visalia, California, is a sophomore business major at the College of the Sequoias. Kiefer will work with the ANA’s Education Department, Museum Services and Library. He also will attend the ANA World’s Fair of Money® in Atlanta this August. Kiefer has been involved in numismatics for seven years, and responds to questions posted on two Internet sites to help young numismatists and collectors learn more about the hobby.

Kieran O’Conner is a recent honor graduate from Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs. This is O’Conner’s second year with the ANA and he will work in the ANA’s Education Department and Library and will attend the Atlanta convention in August. O’Conner will start at Stanford University in the fall of this year, after graduating second in his class. Kiefer is interested in colonial coinage and hopes to help people his age become interested in the hobby.

Both Kiefer and O’Conner are familiar faces at ANA Summer Seminar. They will be studying to receive the Diplomat of Numismatics from the School of Numismatics.
