ANA Board of Governors reinstates free club tables at shows
American Numismatic Association member clubs will once again receive free tables at the ANA’s three annual shows, the Board of Governors voted unanimously during its Wednesday teleconference meeting.
“Clubs have always been the lifeline of the ANA,” President Tom Hallenbeck said. “We believe our long tradition of offering free tables to member clubs was beneficial to the hobby.”
Clubs will receive a free table in accordance with rules and procedures. These policies will be created by staff, reviewed and approved by the board, will become part of the ANA’s Policy Manual, which will be available to clubs on the ANA website, www.money.org.
This policy goes into effect with the fall National Money ShowSM, which will run from Oct. 13-15 at the David L. Lawrence Center in Pittsburgh.
The previous policy of charging clubs $100 per table was implemented in 2009 with Los Angeles World’s Fair of MoneySM. The cost was raised to $150-200 for the 2011 World’s Fair of Money.
Host club announced
The board voted unanimously to name the Denver Coin Club as the host club for the 2012 spring National Money Show in Denver.
Chuck D’Ambra was named the general show chairman. A past Denver Coin Club president, D’Ambra is now beginning to make committee appointments for the show, which will take place May 10-12, 2012.
Committee chairmen named
Hallenbeck announced chairmen for several ANA committees, which the board unanimously approved.
Clifford Mishler will lead the Strategic Planning Committee. Larry Baber was tapped as treasurer, with Gerome Walton, Kenneth E. Bressett and Ken Hallenbeck as assistant treasurers.
David Sklow became secretary, with Joe Boling named assistant secretary. A. Ronald Sirna Jr. was appointed to another term as general counsel.Barry Stuppler was named as the board’s ex-officio non-voting member. While this position traditionally goes to the outgoing ANA president, Stuppler was named because of Mishler’s current role as a governor.
“More appointments are forthcoming. By the Pittsburgh National Money Show, we will have all committees running and in place,” Hallenbeck said.
Early bird vote tabled
The board tabled a discussion on early bird admissions at ANA shows, pending further research, committee feedback and input from the numismatic community.
