ANA Expands Courses to Include Technical and Collector Series at Milwaukee World’s Fair of Money®
Numismatists visiting Milwaukee can take advantage of new technical and collector series courses and workshops, catering to all ages and interests, before and during the American Numismatic Association World’s Fair of Money® Aug. 8-12.
The technical and collector series kicks off with six, two-day pre-convention seminars from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 6-7:
- • Fundamentals of Grading United States Coins
- • Forensic Numismatics: Detecting Counterfeit and Altered United States Coins
- • Grading United States Paper Money
- • Advanced Morgan Dollar Collecting
- • Numismatics of Colonial America
- • S.S. Central America 150th Anniversary: Recovering the Past, Discovering the Future
The early registration deadline for pre-convention technical and collector series seminars is July 15. Discounted rates are offered to all ANA members, and new ANA life member pricing is also available. Registration is required.
The professional development seminar Coins In The Classroom is being offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 8-9. The course teaches educators how to use money as a tool to enhance their lesson plans in social studies, language arts, mathematics and economics.

The ANA will also present four convention workshops, which are offered without charge to convention attendees:

- • Boy Scout Coin Collecting Merit Badge Workshop: Noon-2:30 p.m., Aug. 11.
- • Girl Scout “Fun With Money” Patch Workshop: Noon-2:30 p.m., Aug. 11.
- • Coin Collecting Basics and More!: 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Aug. 12.

The Milwaukee World’s Fair of Money® is being held at the Midwest Airlines Center, Aug. 8-12. Clifford Mishler is serving as the event’s General Chairman, Chester L. Krause is the Honorary Chairman and Joseph Boling is Chief Exhibit Judge. The Milwaukee Numismatic Society, Numismatists of Wisconsin and the South Shore Coin Club are the event’s host clubs. Heritage Auction Galleries is the official auction company.
The World’s Fair of Money® brings together people of all ages who share an interest in coins, paper money, tokens and medals, art, history and related areas. The event features more than 1,100 numismatic venders, a Mint Promenade featuring mints around the world, a collector exhibit area, a multi-million-dollar auction and hourly educational presentations, seminars and meetings. Admission is free and the show is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
