ANA Money Museum Receives Distinction From Colorado Springs Independent
The ANA’s Edward C. Rochette Money Museum was named the third best cultural attraction/museum in the Pikes Peak region by the Colorado Springs Independent. The distinction was announced Oct. 25 in the weekly paper’s “Best Of 2007” issue, featuring the city’s premier restaurants, shops, programs and attractions, as chosen by readers. The Independent is the city’s largest weekly publication and second largest newspaper.
Colorado Springs is home to a vibrant cultural scene and several nationally recognized museums. The Money Museum was honored together with the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center (first place) and the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum (second place). It is the fourth time in five years the Money Museum has been included in the Independent’s “Best Of” list.
“It’s rewarding to know that people in this city appreciate what we do,” said Tiffanie Bueschel, the ANA’s library and museum director. “Our goal is to create exhibits that engage people regardless of age or numismatic background. This honor helps validate our hard work and our mission.”
The ANA Money Museum is the largest museum dedicated to numismatics in the country, and welcomes 30,000 visitors annually. The museum includes the Harry W. Bass Jr. Collection – the finest display of American gold coins in the world, as well three galleries that feature new exhibits each year on a variety of numismatic topics. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Group tours are available by calling 719-482-9834.
