ANA NYC Convention activities throughout Marriott Marquis Hotel
The myriad of activities planned for the American Numismatic Association (ANA) World’s Fair of MoneySM, July 31 to August 4, will fill several floors of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City’s vibrant Times Square.
“In addition to the busy bourse on the 5th and 6th Floors, and the wonderful array of exhibits on the 7th Floor mezzanine, club meetings, Numismatic Theatre and special events will take place throughout the hotel,” says ANA Convention Services Manager Brenda Bishop. “This convention site differs from the typical convention center, but still offers plenty of room for the many, many events and activities schedule for the ANA’s convention.”
Bourse dealers and mints will fill the two large ballrooms on the 5th and 6th Floors, with the United States Mint and Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) taking the stage on the 6th. The BEP will have its eye opening $1 billion exhibit of colorful currency that includes uncut sheets of $5,000, $10,000 and $100,000 denomination bills and a $500 million Treasury bond.
The ANA’s Numismatic Theatre educational programs will be held in the Empire Room on the 7th Floor, where visitors will register to enter the show. Also on the 7th Floor visitors will find nearly 20 specialty club meetings in the Gramercy, Herald and Olmstead conference rooms, and auction-lot viewing in the Astor Ballroom.
Many other clubs and numismatic organizations will have their meetings in the Hart, O’Neill and Ziegfeld Rooms on the 4th Floor of the Marriott Marquis Hotel. Conference rooms on the 4th Floor also will serve as venues for the U.S. Mint’s public Business Forum, world mint news conferences, ANA World Series of Numismatics and Young Numismatists Educational Forum, and meetings of the Association’s Board of Governors.
The Marquis Ballroom on 9th Floor will be the site of Superior Galleries’ auctions and the ANA awards reception and banquet. World Coin News’ Coin of the Year presentation, Boy and Girl Scout collecting workshop, and Numismatic Literary Guild Bash will be held in the Cantor and Jolson Rooms on the 9th Floor.
The 16th Floor Sky Lobby will serve as the venue for the ANA Membership Reception and Awards Presentations, and the Numismatic News Numismatic Ambassador breakfast.“Everyone who attends the World’s Fair of Money will have to study their program to set their week’s schedule,” Bishop says. “ANA conventions offer so much for collectors, we are certain everyone will find plenty to see and do.”
