ANA recognizes top volunteers in representative program

On the occasion of its 110th Anniversary Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, the American Numismatic Association (ANA) announced its annual awards to distinguished volunteers in the Representative Program.

Selected from a number of top-notch nominees were:
  • – Outstanding Club Representatives – Dennis Schafluetzel, who represents the Chattanooga (Tennessee) Coin Club, and Blake B. Rouleau, who sponsored Ridgeland Coin Club in Pearl, Mississippi, when it rejoined the ANA.
  • – Helen Carmody-Lebo Memorial Award for Outstanding District Delegate – Bruce Potter of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. A charter life member of the Oklahoma Numismatic Association and a member of four coin clubs in his district, Potter has been a collector for more than 40 years and a part-time dealer. He speaks to elementary and junior high schools about coin collecting and makes sure that each student walks away from his lectures with a coin from either the United States or a foreign country. Potter also works with the local Boy Scout Council and runs merit badge clinics at coin shows. He gives presentations at his local public Library and at local organizations, as well as helps set up displays in the library and at his local bank.
  • – Terry Armstrong Memorial Award for Outstanding Regional Coordinator – Steven K. Ellsworth of Clifton, Virginia. Following a career in the United States Army, Ellsworth has been a full-time coin dealer and collector. He has served as an ANA district delegate and is currently the regional coordinator for the mid-Atlantic states. He is a member of the ANA Membership and Finance Committees and is president of the Virginia Numismatic Association (VNA)_where he has served as its bourse chairman for the last three years. Ellsworth has been an instructor at the ANA Summer Seminars and has written on numerous topics which have been published in over 15 state and national journals.
