Coins Hard to Find In Circulation
Hey everyone, here are some coins that are hard to find in circulation:
1. Silver quarters and dimes. Collectors know that they should keep them because of their silver value, so the silver coins are getting rarer and rarer.
2. War nickels. They have a little bit of silver, so collectors keep them. To find them, look at the reverse and above Monticello. There should be a mintmark, even if the coin was made at Philidelphia.
3. Silver half dollars. In 1964, the U.S. Mint transitioned from Franklin halves to Kennedy halves in honor of J.F.K.'s death. The halves from 1964 contain 90% silver. from 1965 to 1969, the halves contain 40% silver. I still can't find any rolls of half dollars anywhere that cost the face value, so getting good rolls of halves are hard enough for me.
4. Mercury dimes, or Winged Liberty dimes. You can find these in circulation, but they are very rare. Excessive searching is needed.
5. Buffalo nickels. Very hard to find. If you find one, you probably can't read its date, and dateless buffalo nickels are pretty much worthless.

I know CoinHunter’s bro found a merc dime in change! And my grandfather gave me a 1964-D dime he had gotten from a gas station as well!

Finding these coins is unlikely unless placed in circulation on purpose or placed in circulation by accident. I doubt that any buffalo nickel has circulated for this many years without someone finding it. I know a lot of coin dealers and collectors place coins in circulation to get people interested in coins.

I have actually found 6 buffalos-they are fairly easy to find. You are right that they are usually dateless though... nice blog!

I think he meant in circulation, CoinHunter, not in rolls.

Got most of these coins... You can get silver Roosevelt dimes for a pretty good price, I got my Mercury and Roosevelt silver dimes for about two dollars apiece
