Why don't more women become involved in numismatics? Rather, why don't more women stick with the hobby?
Today is opening day of the FUN show. I miss going every year...
After many years of collecting experience, any regrets?
Big, flashy coins dominate coin news. The bigger the better. Large, color photos of gold and silver coins get all the publicity.
I found a beat up one-cent coin on the street today, on the way to the book store.
There is much talk about how the Internet has changed how people shop. That includes shopping for coins. You could just sit at your computer and find that coin you've been looking for. You can browse sites all day. But there's nothing like attending a real show, in person.
My favorite bookstore is relocating in the next month or so. I dropped in the other day and had a nice chat with the owner. He plans opening day festivities, including appearances by local authors. He asked yours truly to take part. Of course I agreed!
Collectors use their eyes so much. Besides examining coins, there are magazines and newspapers to read, auction catalogs, research. Many collectors, especially older people, wear glasses or some type of corrective lenses.
If you follow my blog, you know I've been a writer for many years.
Monday is the day I visit book stores. As a writer, I always have projects in the works. Made a pretty good haul yesterday. My tote bag weighed almost 15 lbs!
