Yesterday turned out to be a great day for downtown. Hot and sunny, but bearable. Besides the Farmer's Market and a delicious lunch, served by my favorite waiter, there was a long stop at the coin shop.

During my bookstore rounds the other day, I managed to stop at a coin shop I hadn't visited in a while. The owner remembered me and we sat and chatted for a time.
Type collectors know that the hardest-to-find type is the small eagle type, used on silver coins from 1795-98. Half dimes, dimes, quarters, half dollars, and dollars used this motif. The eagle is shown sitting on a cloud, holding its head high, surrounded by a wreath.
