Mementos of Thanks from My Former Employer

Medals | coinsbygary

In all my years of writing blogs, I have simply referred to my former employer as my employer. It was never necessary to my posts for me to reveal my employer until now. Because my employer sent Veterans Day medals to all the veterans on their payroll, it is now necessary to reveal their identity.

Sometimes You Just Have to Trust Your Gut

Medals | coinsbygary

In a recent blog post, I mused over having to fill out one of those dreaded NGC submission forms. As with most things I procrastinate over, I eventually got around to it. I have also written about The American Bar Association medallion I bought from a seller on E-Bay who thought it was a fake. Well, today is the moment of truth. That medallion finally made it to NGC, and the grade was released today.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Preparing an NGC Submission

Medals | coinsbygary

There are some things I don't particularly care to do. When it comes to those things, I usually procrastinate getting them done. Preparing submission forms to send coins and medals to NGC for grading is something I always procrastinate. I just don't like itemizing the submission form, looking up the market value, separating my medals from my coins, modern vs. classic, etc. Then packing them up and running to the post office is such a pain in the neck. Well, today I finally said, "This is the day" and I grabbed the first item to be submitted.

A Five Medal Salute to Veterans

Medals | coinsbygary

As a veteran myself I want to thank todays veterans for their selfless service and sacrifice to our country. I was fortunate to have joined the Navy in a time of peace (1976-1982) and have never fought in a war. I always told people that my war was the Cold War. Still we constantly trained for war. I likened my service to a person keeping watch on the wall of a city while those in the city rested in security. Todays veterans know the horrors of war and I thank them for fighting our wars while we in the city rest in peace. This 5-medal salute is my tribute to todays active and veteran service men and women.

Feast or Famine

Medals | coinsbygary

For collectors, sometimes collectibles are added in bunches. Other times the wait for new pieces is unbearable. Well over the last couple of months, I have added three new pieces to my Laura Gardin Fraser collection. To top it off all my new acquisitions are fairly scarce. Of interest to me is that all three were referred to me by another collector who has been watching E-Bay with me. I just love how unselfish and helpful so many of the people in this hobby are towards me. It doesn't get much better than this, good people and new acquisitions. The following is a brief summary of my three new pieces.
