Just Because

Coins-United States | coinsbygary

Have you ever bought a coin "Just Because __________" (fill in the blank). I don't normally collect Sacagawea Dollars, but I do like the design and enhanced finish of the recently sold out "2014 American $1 Coin and Currency set". I doubt that I will be sending this coin to NGC for grading but if you are fortunate enough to get a coin that is worthy of the SP-70 grade, you have a pretty special coin. I have two of these sets and neither of them will make SP-70, but then again, I don't care. Thus I will not be breaking up these sets since the packaging is also quite attractive.

This Native American set is really cool and teaches some history of treaties. Fully devoted to collecting them all!

Another 'Just Because' coin is an AU 1964-D Silver Dime with a 10-15% Clipped Planchet that I won for $5.69.

I have bought several coins 'Just Because;' one was a lot of 2 barber dimes, and extremely worn 1900-O Barber Dime and a damaged 1905-O Micro O barber dime for $15. Another was an 1894 V Nickel that I won for $5.61, 'Just Because' it was a popular semi-key date that also would help my set.

I only purchase coins I like wether or not I think they will grow in value. and I don't understand the first day release NGC or PCGS labels. it seems like people are buying the plastic holder instead of the coin...... and I think it is stupid. don't get me wrong, I know that there is a reason for the professional grading of coins....... but when you buy a slabbed coin buy the coin not the slab!!!! ok that was my rant for the day.

Mr. Wheatie, You have a good point. The mints release and labeling of that gold Kennedy half dollar is a good example.

Sometimes you just get this feeling... it might be the force.

I bought a copper large penny only because of it's toning.

I bought the set also and along with it I have purchased at least one of the special issues from the BEP with the intention of passing them along to children or grandkids. Just buying one of each issue provides enough stuff to do in many drawers. I still lie having the stuff around the house and not in a safety deposit box I get a lot of pleasure getting out a piece now and then and just looking at with a fresh set of eyes and to me that is coin collecting not amassing a pile plastic with MS-66or more attached to it.

I also bought 2 2013 Sacagawea Dollars just because: I liked the reverse. I live in the High Desert and enjoyed the desert creatures on the coin. I have quite a few others bought "just because" but I don't want to get carried away here!
