**Lion on the Mountain**

Coins - World | Kepi

Hi everyone!      I wanted to share the newest addition to my collection!  This is a 2014 $5 Fine Silver Coin from the Bank Note Series: Lion on the Mountain.  It is 99.99%  pure silver with a diameter of 36 millimeters and a weight of 23.17 grams.   The reverse image recreates the vignette of a lion on a mountain from a design of the early twentieth century by the British American Banknote Company.  The obverse shows Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll designed by Susanna Blunt.  This coin was struck by the Royal Canadian Mint and has a limit of 8500.   (Mine is #4355)...   ; )    As some of you might know the lion theme is one of my favorites and fills quite a few spaces in my coin boxes!    haha    I would love to find one of original bank notes depicting my Lion on the Mountain coin!  Keep searching right!    Thanks for reading my blog.  Comments are always welcome. **Cunning Cougar**

Coins-World | Kepi

This is the last coin in the Royal Canadian Mints set "Nocturnal by Nature".  He's the "Cunning Cougar",  a 2018 $20  Fine Silver Coin.  This  rhodium-plated silver coin has a diameter of 38mm and weight of 31.39 grams.  Artist Tony Bianco designed the cougar out on a tree limb during its nightly hunt with the light of a full moon behind him.  The obverse shows Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll designed by Susan Blunt.  The other "night" creatures in this 4 coin set are the owl, wolf and brown bat.  All with amazing details!  I think the Canadian Mint really creates some wonderful coins, especially their animal and nature series.  Hope you enjoyed this blog.  Comments are always welcomed.    Happy Easter to all!

**Ugly Toning???**

Coins-World | Kepi

As alot of you know I love toned coins...  Well, I was at my coin dealer awhile ago and saw this wolf coin.  I thought great!  Toning and a wolf, two of my favorite things, so I bought it.  No big deal.  I put it away for awhile and recently took it out of the safe to admire and as I looked at it thought wow, this toning is butt ugly.   They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder,  but Kepi really?  What the heck was I thinking?  While I can't explain the weird toning on this coin I can tell you it's from the Royal Canadian Mint and it's the first coin in their 1oz. bullion coin Wildlife Series.  It's the 2011 Silver Timber Wolf in his natural habitat.  The obverse shows the profile of Queen Elizabeth ll.  This series ran from 2011 to 2013 and featured 6 coins with a mintage of 1 million coins. I would like to hear anyone's comments of what they think caused such toning.  Hope you enjoyed my blog!

**WOLVES OR WOLFS???**

Coins-World | Kepi

*                       In celebration of a giant, full "Blood Moon" here in the southwestern desert, I'd like to share these 3 coins from the Canadian Mint with you.  It's the "Silver Howling Wolves" series.  Each coin is 3/4 oz of .9999 pure silver and has a $2.00 face value.  The obverse shows Susanna Blunt's design of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse depicts wolves in their natural habitat under the glow of the silvery moon howling to their hearts delight.  Dated 2015, 2016 and 2017.  I really enjoy these trio of coins, as the wolf is one of my favorite predators.  Can't wait till they come out with the 2018 design!  Thanks for reading my blog.  Comments are welcome!

**Canadian Wolf**

Coins - World | Kepi

I'd like to share a new piece that I've added to my collection recently.   It's part of the Royal Canadian Mint "Predator Series"  2018 Canada S  $5 Wolf.   Early Release. Graded by NGC as a MS 69.    This coin is the third release in this series. The first being the 2016 Cougar and the second 2017 Lynx.   The Wolf is 1 oz. of fine Silver and has a low mintage of 300,000.   It is a sovereign coin backed by the Canadian Government.   The Obverse shows Susanna Blunt's design of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll and the face value of $5 dollars.  The Reverse is an engraved depiction of a wolf in pursuit of its prey.  Designed by artist Nathalie Legace.  I really liked the fine details of the wolf...coarse fur, sharp canines and running at full speed!    The wolf is a fearless hunter that relies on high intelligence, adaptability and great hunting skill, especially in a pack.  They have lived in all types of terrain in the northern hemisphere except for the desert...which is where I live.   Around 50,000 wolves make Canada their home, the second largest population in the world after the former Soviet Union.   They are very social and gather in packs of up to 20 members.   Looking at this beautiful coin I can just imagine a pack of wolves running through the snow, working together as they pursue tonight's meal.   Thank you for reading my blog!  Comments are always welcome.

**$20.00 for $20.00**

Coins-World | Kepi

I wanted to share this cool little coin with you!  It's from the Royal Canadian Mint who has a great program called $20.00 for $20.00.  The one I really liked is this 2013 Canadian Wolf.   Struck in 99.99% fine silver with a worldwide mintage of 250,000. It has a serrated edge, weight of 7.96 g. and diameter of 27 mm. The obverse was designed by Susanna Blunt and features Queen Elizabeth II.  The reverse shows a frontal view of a wolf running through the barren wilderness. The designer is Glen Loates.  The face value is $20.00...and the cost of this coin is $20.00.   Pretty cool huh!!!  So next time you have an extra $20 bucks, think about these cool little coins!  Thanks for looking at my blog. I look forward to your comments.

**Just Another Pretty Coin**...

Coins-World | Kepi

I saw this the other day at my coin dealer's store and knowing that I enjoy toned coins, he put this one aside for me.  This piece really caught my eye.  I think it's the beautiful bright silver with such a light mauve toning around the edge and on the rim that did it.   It was just so pretty and understated.  So after almost no thought at all...it now has a place with me in my collection.   This is a 1999  $5 dollar Canadian Maple Leaf.   1 oz. pure silver. It features Queen Elizabeth ll on the obverse.   Hope you enjoy it!

Mother Nature on Coins... " Bee " Happy

Coins - World | Kepi

This is a 2017   99.99%  pure Silver $20 Dollar piece from our neighbors to the north, the Royal Canadian Mint.  Titled  "Mother Nature's Magnification Beauty Under the Sun".    Now normally I wouldn't be interested in a colorized coin although some have really cool designs, but this one has special meaning. My Husband and I are bee-keepers and for my birthday he surprised me with this beautiful coin!    The artist is Alexandra Lefort who features a bumble bee on a sunflower in a mountain meadow in western Canada. It has a  3-D "dew-drop" which reveals a detailed diorama of the bee's ecosystem. The obverse features Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by artist Susan Blunt.  I love Bees, Sunflowers and Silver...  What's not to like, this coin has it all!   ;  )    Would any of you, my fellow collectors ever consider buying a colorized coin?
