WORLD BEE DAY 2022!!

Coins-World | Longstrider

Today, 20 May, is World Bee Day!! I know. It's amazing. As a bee keeper myself I wanted to share the good news with everyone. I am not a big colorized coin guy but I couldn't pass this one up. I won this coin at a Canadian Numismatic Society auction a few years ago. It is a 2017 Canadian 20 dollar silver non-circulating bullion coin. It is called Mother Nature's Magnification.

2013 YEAR OF THE SNAKE

Coins-World | Longstrider

I would like to share this awesome coin I received from my beautiful, young wife. Below you can see my specimen of the 2013 Canadian Mints rendition of the Chinese Lunar Year of the Snake. This coin is 99.99% fine silver. It has a diameter of 34mm and weighs in at 15.87g. The coin comes from the mint in a cool presentation box and is securelytucked away in a Air-Tite capsule.

SHORT BUT SWEET-2003 MEXICAN SILVER LIBERTAD

Coins-World | Longstrider

I believe a lot of collectors here are familiar with the Mexican silver Libertad's. If not you might consider checking them out. They are Mexico's answer to our American Silver Liberty bullion coins. I received this one in the mail today and wanted to share it here as it is a bit unique.

TONER TUESDAY AT THE ANA

Coins-World | Longstrider

So I was getting a couple of coins to put up on another site I frequent for their “Mexican Toner Tuesday”. I thought they looked pretty good so why not put them up here for all my ANA friends to enjoy, I hope. None of these coins are rare or expensive. I will just give a short information list on them.

OH CANADA-CANCELLED BY PANDEMIC

Coins-World | Longstrider

The other day I received this kinda cool, kinda sad coin in the mail. Thanks to a fellow member here with strong likes for Canadian coins and The Royal Canadian Numismatic Society, I was told about these unique slabbed coins and was able to order one. As you can see in the photos this is a PVGS Sample slab with a Canadian 2020 fifty cent coin in it. The label states that it's from the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association Convention, this year to be held in Halifax. As is stated on the label, it was "Cancelled by Pandemic". Another one bites the dust.

2020 SAMOA 2 TALA

Coins-World | Longstrider

I picked up an interesting coin the other day I want to share here. It is a 2020 Samoa Silver 2 Tala. It is a one ounce of 99.999 silver, non-circulating but legal tender coin. It caught my eye for a few reasons. First it has an antique silver finish. I always wanted to see one of these in my hand. Next and most important it features a dragon-like reptile on it. I'm a dragon freak.

CINCO de MAYO-GOLD 2.5 PESO!

Coins-World | Longstrider

The other day, Tuesday, 5 May, was the celebration of Cinco de Mayo. Briefly, it is the celebration of the Battle of Puebla in which the hugely outnumbered Mexican Army was victorious in defeating the French and gaining their independence. I love this day and since there were no public celebrations, I did the only thing possible, I bought a coin. I am a collector of all Latin American silver coinage. This day is special so I went for a gold coin instead.

ANTARCTIC 50 PENCE

Coins-World | Longstrider

Now, this is going to be an unusual blog, for me at least. I bought this coin and was all set to blog about it like normal. After getting the photos ready I noticed everything I was going to tell you about the coin is all on the photos. Crazy. I decided to do it this way and talk more about the place the coin is from. Here goes.

Coins-World | Longstrider

As many of you know I am a big fan of Peace Dollar VAMs. I often write about my new collection acquisitions here. This isn’t one of them. This is about another thing I am very interested in, Dragons and Dragon coins. Below is my new 2019 Australian silver Double Dragon coin.
