1913 TYPE 2 BUFFALO NICKEL LAMINATION ERROR

Coins-United States | Longstrider

First off I want to say I do not own this coin, yet, at coin store for sale.. I have always been intrigued by lamination problem coins. This one, at my coin dealer's store, is the best example I have ever seen. It happens to be a 1913 Buffalo Nickel Type 2 in an NGC holder. Even the slab is cool.

AN ERROR TO REMEMBER

Coins-United States | Longstrider

So since it is another slow Saturday I thought I would give everyone a fun lesson. First off I am well aware of the chance I took. I just never thought it would happen on this coin. A few weeks ago I was browsing Heritage.com just to see what the market is doing. A fun thing I do. This particular auction was all error coins. I like to get a few from time to time. Nothing like Haney but I have fun. If I didn’t already have my Peace Dollar VAMs, MPC, Mexican Type, and POW chits I would likely hit it harder.

ERROR SILVER AMERICAN EAGLE

Coins | Longstrider

Here I have a coin that I originally bought as an investment coin. I have since fallen in love with it and hope to keep it. As you can see, it's 2008 W Silver Eagle with a Reverse of 2007. It also happens to be a MS 70 Early Release. It has a very limited run. It's estimated that only 47,000 made their way out of the mint before the mistake was discovered. The difference being the reverse dies of 2007 and earlier have a plain U in UNITED. Modified dies of 2008 and later have a small serif at the bottom right of the U. It stands out if you know what you are looking for but you have to be looking for it.

ANACS Confirmation of Lincoln Cent No FG FS-901

Coins-United States | Longstrider

This blog is to help clarify one I put up on Oct. 17 called 1969-D Lincoln Cent Missing Designers Initials. I found this coin while roll hunting. It looked, to me, like it didn't have the initials of the designer on the reverse. I took a couple of photos and posted it on the above mentioned date. Some people agreed with me and some didn't. They could see the initials. To settle this dispute once and for all I sent the coin into ANACS for grading and error/variety check. It came back,as you can see, just as I thought, this time. Just goes to show that two people can look at the same thing and see different things! Please check out the old blog and tell me what you see. Thanks!!
