The latest pick up I bought at the Las Vegas coin show, a few weeks ago, is a 1922 Peace Dollar VAM-2E2 called a “Wing Break”. It is a member of the Top 50. I am trying for the entire Top 50 set as the variety features can usually be seen with your naked eye. This particular specimen was graded, slabbed, and attributed by ANACS. They are a very popular TPG for VAMs as they list a great many more VAM’s than the other two major graders. It made an AU 55 grade, which seems a bit conservative to me. There is still quite a bit of mint luster and very little wear. Oh well, that’s the way it goes. I usually am not too concerned about the grade assigned as much as the VAM designation.

So last week I was looking around eBay, something I seldom do, and saw something new to me. A 1982 one ounce silver Mexican Libertad error. I’ve never seen a Libertad error. After some negotiations I am the proud new owner if it. This coin is raw, also something I would never buy from eBay. I am pleased to say it arrived as shown.

1969-D Lincoln Cent Missing Designer's Initials

Coins | Longstrider

Here is a question for everyone. I found this 1969-D Lincoln Memorial Reverse cent while roll searching. As you can see in the photos below, I hope, it is missing the FG initials of Frank Gasparro, the designer of the reverse. In the book Cherrypickers' Guide-fifth edition it is listed as a variety "Missing Designer's Initials". It has a FS-01-1969-D-901 number. The authers maintain that during die polishing the initials were completely polished away.
