Mint Sealed Brown Eisenhowers
I recently bought this lot of 8 mint sealed brown Ikes. Five of them are in the two boxes taped together with the shipping label from April 10, 1972. I am going to leave the 5 sealed and untouched because they were the original 5 on that order. As you can see I could not resist opening the unlabeled, yet still sealed box. I plan on storing that 5 pack away for several more years to age like fine coins do. To think, these three have not seen the light of day since they were put in these boxes in '71 or '72. The order was from April of '72. It was so cool to open history.

What a cool piece of numismatic history to own.

A very wise decision. I'm only lacking the sets prior to 1954. While they are expensive to begin with, unopened as issued bring tremendous premiums. Sometimes double the same set opened. I do not foresee that to be any different with the Eisenhower dollar since their popularity is strong and growing.

Great find. Not many opportunities like that around. I would be tempted to open them. Nice.

That's why I bought the extra box. To take care of that temptation.

Yeah. That one box was an unlabeled box that was not a part of the original labeled set so there was no real reason to keep it sealed. Now I need to figure out what to do with the three I have out. They may just end up going back into the box and stored away. Unfortunately Ike’s are not well loved value wise.

These are great pick ups. Nice going. My browns got a little white. Put them in an air tites it stopped. The blue are good in the air tites. There hard to find.

I actually picked up a blue Ike a few weeks ago that is a stunner. It is going in my next submission. I took it out of the cellophane and put it in a grading flip. From what I can tell it’s a decent grade coin.

That is an amazing thing to own! I wish I had one for myself. Also make sure to store it in a place where it is not constantly grinding against something so that those amazing boxes don't get damaged.

Nice...but I thought there were only 4 of them 1971 to 1974. I had the set also years ago and like Mike said they turn white..the plastic. I also agree to keep them sealed.

I agree 100%. Too bad poor Ike isn’t more valuable than he is.

I agree. It was an impulse buy, but how often can one say the have or have had mint sealed boxes from 50 years ago. I mainly bought it for the numismatic history, not just the coins. Who knows ow long the 5 will remain sealed.
