All Roads Lead To Chicago

World's Fair of Money | C.D. Harrell

When I awoke from my slumber this morning, I had a familiar feeling. A feeling that while familiar, it's a feeling that does not come around often. In fact, its quite a rare feeling indeed. I'm sure we all remember the excitement of Christmas eve as a child. A somewhat happy nervous feeling located in the pit of our stomachs. That's the feeling that I experienced this morning and am continuing to experience as I write this blog from my desk at its North Carolina location.

Tomorrow morning, I will be flying out to Chicago , Illinois for the World's Fair of Money. This is something that I have wanted to experience for many years, but the chance to go has not presented itself until now.

Of course, I have a few bucket list coins that I will be keeping an eye out for. The highlight reel includes three. The Lafayette Dollar, 1909-S V.D.B Cent, and the 1807 Bearded Goddess Capped Bust Half Dollar. If I can come back with any one of those three coins, I will be more than a happy collector. At the time this blog is being written, I am 24 years of age. I hope to revisit this blog in the future to reminisce on the first of many trips to the World's Fair of Money.

If anyone reading this blog is going to the show, leave a comment, or send me a message. I would enjoy nothing more than to meet members of the Numismatic community and snag a photo or two.

When I return from the show, I plan to recapture the experience through another blog post. Reviewing the experience and presenting the coins that I acquired along the way.

I've been collecting since 1979 and have never been to one. I still have hope though if a big show like that comes back to Baltimore. That has to be very exciting to say the least.
