Mint Announces New 2026 Commemoratives To Be Released
Special Selection News Blog
Early January 2022
Special News:
You may be wondering why I made another blog, here is my reasoning: I figure that most people on this site want news, Numismatic news. So I am making it easier for you to get that by adding my Special Selection News short(by short I mean shorter than my previous article)news stories, and this one is my first. You probably read my first blog if you're here, and this one should be just as interesting. Now to the news. Most of you know that 1776 is considered America's "birthday". But a lot of people celebrate dates like 100 or 200 years after the occasion. But now we're almost upon another year of great importance: 2026. Exactly 250 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. I am guessing that, again the premiums will be very high for the commemoratives, and so more expensive, but 2026 is still the semiquincentennial of American independence. A year that should be celebrated with commemoratives. And here is the list of 250 themed commemoratives:
A. A $25 Gold Coin
B. A $2.50 Silver Coin
C. A Five ounce $2.50 Silver Coin
D. A commemorative Quarter
These coins will all have a pretty high premium off the US Mint website, as to be expected. I myself am not sure if the Quarter will be meant to circulate, but if you have an opinion please comment below. And I have one more thing that I would like to report, the fact that the Mint is not certain these coins will be authorized, although it is likely they will be with the profit they will make. Concluding this I would to inform you that the next Special Selection article, and all future SS articles will be at the same time as my other blog, one day after. Also I would like to add that there is no Counter Action because this is not an opinionated report. Well that wraps things up, see you next time,

I'll just wait and see what the mint actually puts out. Now it is all just a bunch of BS I mean ideas.

For those not born then, or just unaware, the U.S. Mint began planning the Bicentennial in late 1970 with establishment of the Bicentennial Commission. Beginning in 1971, several compositions and offerings of commemorative medals were struck and issued by the mint in Philadelphia for each year leading to 1976. Not to mention or be confused with private mints, the hundreds of other medal designs still widely available in the marketplace. So it would come as no surprise if the mint does not create another commission a year, maybe two, before hand. Will there be issue struck and leading up to the event? Probably not. Today's society is so much different than in the early seventies.

These plans are an excellent start, and at this point, they should only be considered a good goal. With any government entity, things are always subject to change. Four years in politics is practically an eternity.

There is now and will continue a silver shortage. . It's being used for industrialized pourposes. . So we don't know what to expect. . As far as news I get it from the mint. Under News. I also get many magazines with update information. Thanks anyway. It's always good to think outside the box. Thanks. The new type two eagles already have there coins made in San Francisco. That's because of the shortage..

I would also like to say that the mintage number for the Quarter is only 750,000, according to Coin World, although that may be just for the ones that will be sold from the Mint. It is not in the article because that is not important enough to qualify for the Special Selection news article.

How much do the $2.50 silver coins cost?

That is true, Mokie, but the premium over spot is what I was referring to.
It's Mokie

There is no way to predict the pricing on any of these coins, the cost of bullion, etc. will determine the price 4 years hence. We also do not know how many quarters will be produced (based on this notice) and I suspect there will be circulating clad coins along with premium pure silver coins, proofs, reverse proofs, privy marked, etc. I personally think it is a fairly unimaginative set of coins but I will wait and see what finally arises as we get much closer to the anniversary.
