This coin was also extensively circulated in the Dutch East Indies but never circulated to any extent in the U.S.

Welcome to ANA numismatics World. Nice first exposition. Interesting coin that belongs to an era that the Dutch considered flourishing among the Indian and Asian neighbors. The coin is attached to the Kingdom of Cochin, supported by the Netherlands around four to five centuries ago. A great coin to start a great collection. Check your coins everywhere as we are here to learn and help.

First you need to know what type coin this is. I wish you took a picture of the other side. Its called a Duit. Made in Holland. There broken down to 1/4. The other side will tell you that by the lions. There were a very few made in silver. That would bring the highest price. But you have to find one. Most go for 9.00 to 29.00. They were used by the west India company and other places. Value is not always in the coin but what it brings to you. You need some reference books.
