Commemoration of the Landing on the Moon

Paper Money-U.S. | Dollar Guy

I would like to propose a change in design for the reverse of the One Dollar Note. I would like to remove the large "One" from the reverse of the One and replace it with a four element change. 1. An astronaut saluting the flag. 2. The U.S. Flag used in the solar wind project on the moon. 3. Lunar Landing Module on the moon. 4. Earh rise as seen from the moon. Also the incorporation of the "In Good We Trust" as mandated by law into the design at the discretion of the engravers. To end of this idea I have contacted a former House member of the NASA Space Committee in Congress and he thinks this is a good idea and offered to help me get in touch with Brian Babin (R-TX) who is now Chairman of the NASA Space Committee and let me pitch my idea to him. Also he has offered to help get the necessary paperwork to the CRS office which helps write bills for introduction into Congress.

Coin Shops

Coins - World | Dollar Guy

When I was in Europe last November is stumbled onto this little place, it was a pity it was closed and I was leaving that afternoon and would not be back as we were headed for the Airport for a flight home. You can blame this one on the ANA site I took the picture correctly!! I tried to upload it three times! the Coin shops I found in Cologne and Strasburg were sad disappointments they had tremendous numbers on coin sets all polished up nice and shiny. This shop i believe was in VIenna ( Ian can confirm that?)

Texas Coin and Currency Show

Club Exchange | Dollar Guy

I have just picked up my display of Texas Renaissance Festival Medals from the Texas Numismatic Coin and Currency Show in Arlington. I want to express my dismay at the way the exhibit chairman handled the display recognitions. He had a half page blurb in the program for the show touting the exhibits and also mentioned that his High School Coin Club had an exhibit. At the awards presentation again he touted the high school club and how well they did on the display then he proceded to award the display the peoples choice award. I just question the ethics of a display that was brought to the exhibition by the exhibits chairman and touted in the program by the same chairman. I felt like there were at least five or six other exhibitors that were swimming up stream to get a fair shake in the judging. Where was their touter for their Exhibit? Would he have let the exhibitors stand next to the judges and tout their exhibit while pointing out rule violations of others and short comings of the competitors material?

Wooden Nickels

Exonumia | Dollar Guy

This is more of a request from my fellow collectors I would like to acquire as much information as I can as to the issues of wooden nickels. If you have a wooden nickel would you scan, photograph it, or just send me the information from both sides so that I can start compiling a catalog of as many issues as possible. It maybe an impossible task but I would like to see how many there are issued. send info to rfe01@aol.comThanks

Uncut sheets

Paper Money-U.S. | Dollar Guy

I got interested in uncut sheets when one of my brother's clients became Secretary of the Treasury. I saw the announcement that the series was available in uncut sheets so I asked if when I came to the his house for our annual golf outing with all my brothers I could ask for The Secretary to autograph my sheet. I envisioned him taking a pen and signing the note next to signature. To my surprise he took out a sharpie and wrote across the entire top of the sheet his signature. since then I have added enough sheets all framed to cover a wall much to the discontent of my wife. So the solution came in a odd way. We were visiting with our stockbroker and his office walls had one single piece of artwork, a chart of the Dow Jones over time. I asked if he was interested in some additional decoration and when I explained my wife's comment was are you not afraid they might be stolen? Since the office was on the ground floor of a banking institution I asked have you ever heard of a bank getting robbed for its wall decorations? So the sheets reside there and I get to admire my collection even get to add to it without worry. Now I am wondering how the BEP is going to sell $1's with the shift to 50 sheet notes. That makes it almost wallpaper it would dwarf the other 31 sheets of 4 to 32 impression sizes.

Currency Album

Paper Money-U.S. | Dollar Guy

I was trying to get my collection out of the shoe boxes filing system. First I should explain my collection is a lot of Federal Reserve notes and I collect by block and series and drifted back into Silver certificates with the same bent. I wanted a way to mount on a page of pockets to show more than the usual 3-4 notes on a single sheet. I tried artist portfolio cases and that was a bust. So I contacted a plastic manufacturer and he said "sure" all I had to do was order 10,000 sheets and i could have my hearts desire. Does anyone have a sugggestion? What I wanted was a page with say 12 pockets to put one each of the banks (A-L) AA blocks and then go from there - but 12 notes on a page was my goal. Any help out there? Thanks!
