A late greetings from a new member
Hello everybody! My apologies, I meant to make a blog to introduce myself sooner. My name is Timothy and I am a "Young Numismatist". I have had a collection for about three years but didn't get serious until about a year and a half ago. I was inspired to build a collection after seeing a large coin collection my dad inherited. I primarily collect small cents starting with the flying eagle cents, but I also have a few other collections. For example, I have been working on a US type set, which I think is important if you focus on only one denomination. Mostly because you can also see all the different designs and old coins from collections you don't have. I have a small foreign coin collection and a few US and foreign bills. Every other month I have to get an infusion at a hospital an hour from my house and I noticed a coin shop in that area. This is now my local coin shop that helps me expand my collection, since I prefer to see the coins in person. I have always known about the ANA but never though of joining it. But last June I joined, mostly for the monthly Numismatist. Recently I have been getting more involved in the coin community and now here I am! Thankyou all for reading, and happy coin collecting! Your fellow numismatist, Timothy

Welcome. I got started mainly through an inheritance but then followed a whole new path to where I am now. I collect mostly world coins 1600-1700s. Collect what you like and it will keep being fun.

Welcome! Very nice photo. You seem to be doing great. Sorry about that hole infusion thing. I'm in that club too. Sucks but what can you do? Are you also taking advantage of the CONECA membership as a Y.N.? They are THE error club. Good luck. Keep us informed.

I am not a member of CONECA, but I have looked at it. I might set up a membership there sometime

Thanks! I also have an interest in photography, so I can't help myself when posting a blog. As much as I love flying eagles, it's really cool to have a three year only series to collect

Hi Timothy, glad to hear you're getting into numismatics. It's good that you've started off young; you'll get more out of it. Have you tried to find any coin clubs near you? There are usually several in each state and they are fun to attend. As a fellow YN highly suggest you get as active with the ANA as you can as they offer a huge amount of benefits and have a well organized YN program. Hopefully we'll see you around more often, thanks for sharing. -Chris A

There is 2 clubs within a 2 hour drive from me, but I do not know how involved I could get in them since I have 5 siblings

Welcome to the ANA and the member areas for posting. Let us know about your local coin dealer and what you find there. Always interesting to find out what others acquire.

As a matter of fact, I am going to my local dealer tomorrow to get a price on an error indian head cent, as well as pick up a few coins. The coin shop is called Hyatt Coin & Gun, so because they are probably making a lot of money from the gun shop, the coin side is pretty nice. Usually each time I go I search through there indian cent bucket, maybe the wheat cent bucket, and then grab 4 - 6 cents from the showcase, like BU red 1950s wheats and older indians
