PCGS or NGC

Collecting Tips | 1943penny

Today while I was looking through some pennies I found a 1960 D/D Small date over large date (i included an image). And I wanted to get it certified but was not sure which company to use. The top three that I decided between were PCGS, NGC, and ANACS. I did a bit of research on them and realized it would be helpful to make a blog so that people don't have to spend their time looking for information about these grading companies.

Coin collecting during COVID-19

Collecting Tips | 1943penny

I haven't written in a while, sorry, i don't have any excuses.COVID-19 is impacting every part of our lives, no matter where you live. But imagine if we didn't have the internet, we would be completely isolated, we would have access to anything except for and maybe not that either. But even with the internet things are very different.Personally the main things for me is that I cant go to school. But also other places like the bank which means I can no longer roll search. ): But as collectors we can still do many things, number one: Write blogs or start forums on Numismatic related topics! which I have noticed not as many people are doing lately (me included) number 2: Now is the time to purchase coins from companies like, APMEX or IJ Bullion, since prices are low right now. And number 3: Take a look at your coins, for those of you who buy coins from a dealer or online and immediately place them safely in your collection. Take a moment to examine some of your coins, look at them, take pictures of them, record them, admire them. I have been taking a look at some of my junk silver and have already foundThe ANA is also offering free gold memberships during National Coin Week (NCW) so if you know any friends or relatives interested in the subject invite them to join the ANA! The more members, the merrier.I hope you guys are staying safe and healthy inside your homes, All the best,1943penny

My bank, NOT YOURS....i wish

Collecting Tips | 1943penny

I have a friend who also collects coins and I showed himbasically how to roll hunt(BAD IDEA)a few days later I go to the bank and ask for a box of pennies and they say they are out of themI wonder why as the last time I went there they had at least 5 of em so I go and ask my friend if he got any and he says;"yeah, I got all of there boxes"I go "In pennies?""nope, dimes, quarters, you know!"so no more boxes hmmmm....I have to wait for a while now while they replenish them and I also asked him how much it cost him and he says;about $1K ($1,000) they must of had a few quarter boxes!so now I have to find a different bank and try to tell him coin roll hunting is a waste of time(good luck with that)so lesson learned either dont tell someone about coin roll hunting or tell them your bank does not have any rolls!(-: 1943penny thanks!

1984 floating d penny

Collecting Tips | 1943penny

yesterday as I got home from the bank after getting some fresh new penny rolls, I found a 1938 d wheat penny, a 1972 mirror proof coin in amazing condition, and I also found a 1984 d penny with the d out of place, I was amazed at how cool it was so I put it with my other pennies that I found, I later looked it up online and found nothing about it except for a 1969 floating d roof penny which was selling for 1,000 dollars, There was also a penny with a floating d that was on the rim selling for 49,000 dollars. I am unsure of how much my penny is worth and If any of you guys might know or have an estimate please comment down below, it would be much appreciative. I have a guess of how these are made (I may be wrong so don't judge) maybe a part of the machine got loose and turned so the d would be out of place, if you have an idea please post below. actually the pictures down below are not the best so the d in comparison to other 1984 d pennies is a bit drifted off to the left if you want to see a good up close photo go tohttps://www.ebay.com/itm/372746605771were I am selling it right now, but it probably will not sell. If you have one of these or know the price of this please comment. Thank you!
