Pick-Ups and My First Time Selling Coins!

| CheerioCoins

A few days ago I went to my coin club which has an auction. I brought a roll of the new 2022 Sally Ride quarters and wanted to sell them. I put a minimum bid of $14 on the roll and decided to look at the other lots. When I looked around there were around five Franklin Halves for only $10 a piece at minimum. I have a folder for Franklin's but didn't currently have one so I decided to bid on the nicest one which was 1962 (P) and it said on the flip MS-64.

YN Auction Win!

| CheerioCoins

I recently just got notification that I won the2018 Ukarine 10 Hryven, Defenders of Donetsk Airport; Gem Brilliant Uncirculated for 60 YN dollars. The reason I bid so much is because I really liked the design and it has historical value because of the war going on in Ukraine right now. It's only worth around $2.00 but I really liked it. Can't wait for that to come.

Why Do People Call the U.S. Cent “Penny?” and the 2023 American Women Quarter Honorees!

| CheerioCoins

People call the U.S. cent "penny" a lot when that's not the actual term. I've seen blogs here with the usage of the word penny and even a thing on the U.S. mints kids page titled "penny". I'm not blaming them since most people use the term "penny". I decided to dig in to find out why. The reason is because in the colonial ages, the British penny's were circulating in the U.S. Many people would use the term "penny" for U.S. cents because the of the British penny's. I found that quite fascinating.

West Point Mint Dime, Nickel, and Cent

| CheerioCoins

In 1996, the West Point Mint minted a special Roosevelt dime. The 1996-W dime is scarce with a very low mintage of 1,457,000. The reason they made this coin was because it was the50th anniversary of the series and the fact thatRoosevelt lived in the town of Hyde Park in upstate New York, around 40 miles from West Point. It was not made for circulation but just for collectors. It is 75% clad and 25% nickel and is worth around $23. There was also a silver 2015-W dime too which had a super low mintage of 74,430, is 90% silver, and worth around $46.
