Update #2: My first coin show!

Young Numismatists Exchange | thatcoinguy

Hello fellow YNs and YNH!

Just got back from my first coin show (Greater Atlanta Coin Show)! This show happens once a month, and had about 25 dealers. I learned loads, and saw some of the best pricing I have ever seen on numismatic items. I happened to pick up three Indian Head Cents for my folder: A 1981 IHC graded G-4 for $1, and a pair of IHCs (1899 and 1896) for $3. All of which I thought were great deals. The best coin (and price) though, was purchased at the very end. My mother purchased a NGC graded MS-65 1963-D Ben Franklin Half Dollar for $25 dollars (the current Greysheet puts it at $32.40). It was an early birthday present (actual birthday August 3rd), but it will probably be the best. The Franklin half dollar is my favorite coin design (hence my avatar), and was already on my birthday list.

Some other coins include a small bag of Canadian coins that I was given, a couple of nice circulation finds, including a 1973 Lincoln cent it MS-64, and a Roosevelt Dime with a doubled rim.

Happy Collecting and enjoy the pics!

P.S. I saw a set with a bicentennial quarter, half dollar, and dollar coin for $2.50. Should I get it?

Nice, do you go to any local clubs? I mainly go to Rockdale and occasionally MCCA.

Yeah! I go to Metropolitan Coin Club of Atlanta too! Maybe we’ll run into each other there.

Coin shows are addictive. You did very well in your selections and for the prices.

I agree with the other comments. Those were some great pick ups. If I were you, I would get the bicentennial set also. I have the silver version of that set which I paid $15 bucks for and thought that was a great deal! Thanks for sharing!

Me too!

I think you should get the set. It's face value is $1.75, right?

Yup! Plus, I forgot to add it included the cent, dime, and nickel for that year as well. So that would make the face value $1.91.

Nice set of Indian cents you have started. Sounds like a good coin show. Monthly shows are nice. Nice Franklin.

You discovered a secret. Coin shows are awesome. They have been hidden and or absent for over a year. Nothing like them to gain friends, knowledge, and great prices. I'm happy you had a good time. Nice pick ups. Thanks.🐍
