2021 LSC Die Clash Found! | Coin Update #34
Hello all!
Today I thought I would give you guys a quick update on my US type set, share a cool find, and ask you guys for a bit of advice about something. As far as progress in my type set, I am at just about 70% complete, with mainly just the more pricy stuff left. In the first 3 pictures are all the coins that are currently in my type set. Next I plan on purchasing a seated liberty quarter and an 1859 Laurel Wreath Indian Head cent and then I will go on from there. I also plan to eventually get a Danco 7070 album to switch this set to, but since they are pretty pricy, I am going to stick to 2x2s for now.
I actually have another cool find to share with you guys today. It is a 2021 Lincoln Shield Cent that has a pretty cool die clash. It is my first ever Shield Cent die clash and my second-ever die clash. I stumbled upon this error while I was searching through 4 rolls of cents (searching more thoroughly for any shield cent doubled dies because I haven’t found one yet). I realized it was a die clash once I put it under my scope looking for a doubled die and noticed some lines, which of course are the lines of the shield on the reverse and got lightly transferred to the obverse when the dies clashed together without a planchet in between them. I am not really seeing any clash marks on the reverse though. I am not really surprised that I overlooked it the first time I went through the cents since it is pretty minor and hard to see without magnification. I didn’t anticipate finding it, but I’ll take it!
About the advice I was seeking. Even before I found out that publishing an article in the NUMISMATIST gets the author $0.15 per word and a chance of winning a literary award (and sometimes money), I had wanted to publish an article in the magazine because I would get me $YN250. But now that I found out the additional information, I am even more motivated to write an article! I also found out that the recommended length is 1200-3200 words, meaning it would have to be a pretty long article. I have already though about writing an article on errors and varieties or coin roll hunting, but they have probably been written about before plus, articles on these subjects would be all out of my head when the article (if I want a chance of winning a literary award) needs to be “well documented”. So my question to you guys is, what should I write about?
P.S. If I were to publish an article in the NUMISMATIST, I have already decided that I would mainly spend the money on additions to my type set.
Thanks a lot for reading this blog, please comment with any ideas of what I should write about, enjoy the pics (even if the type set ones aren’t that great), and have a great day!

You my friend have amazing eyes. Great pick up. Good job on the type set as well. I remember when I wanted to start a type set that the Dansco 7070 was nowhere to be found. Good luck.

Great type set thus far! As for your Numismatist Article, I think a summary of roll searching and how to do it would be nice. Also, give some examples of things you have found! That might get people motivated to get to their bank.

Thanks for the idea! I will probably actually do that idea since I haven't had any other good ideas... Mike already let me know that they are way backed up on articles, so it wouldn't be published for a long, long time.

Looking forward to the set in a Dansco album. Going to be nice. Don't know anything about writing an article. Errors would be a nice subject. Enjoy your blogs.
