I Won Second Place|Coin Update #18
Hello all!
Today my blog is going to be the usual, and update one some recent finds, purchases, and some other numismatic related stuff.
First off, I am going to tell you about my super annoyingly lucky brother. He recently went on a trip with my parents to PA, and while he was there he got a silver quarter! Here is how he did it: while at a local grocery store, he asked the cashier if he could get a roll of quarters, and they said yes (he said they had to go get it out of the back). So he opened the roll, it was machine wrapped, and noticed right away that one was silver, he pulled it out, and it was a 1939 Philadelphia.
Next, I am going to tell you about the awesome results of a recent coin hunt. To set the stage, when my mom takes me to the credit union, she usually goes through the drive through and then just waits in the parking lot for me, now, a lot of times, I take a pretty long time, so the last couple of times that she has taken me, she has just dropped me off. That is what she did this time, so I went in, exchanged some coins, and then sat down in a chair and looked through some of the coins while I was waiting for her to return. I decided to start looking through the seven rolls while I was there because I don't usually find anything, but to my surprise, when I dumped out the second to last roll, I saw at least one silvery edge, and maybe to more. In the end, there was three silver dimes in the roll, all brand new, but, the reason I couldn't tell for certain without looking at the dates, they were very tarnished. There was 2 1962-D and a 1961-D I especially like the toning on the 1961-D, I think it would achieve a ⭐️ if I turned it in for grading.Oh, and I almost forgot, I also got some quarters and nickels. And I found my second ever bat W quarter.
And now, the reason for the season, errr... uh, title. Remember that wheat penny pizza that I talked about a couple of blogs ago? Well, it one 2nd place in my age category. The prize was awesome, and I can't imagine what the first place prize was. It is a proof bald eagle 2008-P commemorative coin with the original mint packaging and the COA. This coin is a silver dollar, it is 90% silver, this coin is also my first silver dollar. I took several pictures of it on piles of silver and other coins, including the one that I am now using as a computer backdrop. I also really like the nice case that is came in, with is soft with the US Mint symbol in the lower right corner. The only fault that I can find on this coin is a little bit of tarnishing near the rim, but other than that, there is literally nothing, and if it wasn't for the tarnishing, I would say it would grade PR-70. I now have two Philadelphia proof coins in US mint cases, the 1999-P proof Susan B. Anthony dollar, and of course the 2008-P Bald Eagle commemorative silver dollar.
Thanks a lot for reading this update, enjoy the pics, and have a splendid day!

Neat! I love making cool articles of food, but I don't follow food safety... the best. And everyone knows that the New Yorker's win when it comes to pizza.

Your pizza was great. But as we all know there is nothing like a slice from N.Y. The best pizza there is. . We use dollar coins to make ours!!

That certainly is a very beautiful commemorative! Hey I thought the pizza coin was fantastic and someone else shared a picture of a three cent coin that was also awesome, but for the life of me, I thought your pizza was the best

Ya, it is. I think that was @WalkingLiberty. Thanks so much! That is what Rod Gillis (the guy who informed me that I got second place) said, actually, he said "and for my money, your entry looked to be the tastiest!" Thanks so much!

You and your brother are lucky dogs. I may send you money to get me some rolls. Very well one on your win. That's not tarnish that is toning and it does not affect the grade. It is desired lately if it is attractive colored. Thanks for the update.
