I am pretty sure it occurred when i was in 4th or 5th grade when i was working in my garden i found a large metallic colored coin (like a half dollar color) buried in the dirt. when i uncovered the coin the date was 1971 but the type of coin (denomination) was covered with a gold rapper that was stuck to the coin. i thought the coin was a half dollar because the coin was a lot bigger than any coin i have ever seen. not knowing much about coins or coin collecting i decided to use scissors to scratch off the wrapper and found out that it was actually a dollar coin. never in my life have i seen this type of coin and a dollar coin of this size. it turned out as you may have guessed to be a 1971 Ike dollar.
