This is me and my son Andrew, who is now an ANA member. I was tough deciding which coins to start him out with. Since he is nonverbal, he looks up for yes and down for no, I showed him some photos on the computer and let him decide. We got some great coins from our friend Jim before Christmas that really sparked his interest. Since I love history and since we live close to Gettysburg we chose "Civil War Tokens" as a starter. We will learn and read up on everything we can before we get too far into it. What I don't know we'll research and ask. I'll try to post photos as his collection grows.1 year ago

I don't have any civil war tokens but have been looking at them recently. Good idea to collect them, lots of history with them. Maybe you two can come to the Harrisburg Coin club show this fall? Provided we can have a show. Last years was cancelled.1 year ago
With a great dad like you be will be fine. I think Andrew knows.exactly what he wants which is good. He picked them. We say buy the coins you like. I'm glad he likes them. They are rich in history. I mean These were used by both sides..Lots of luck to Andrew. He will be fine collecting these!! .
That's cool! Civil war tokens are a fine piece of history, i've never seen one myself though. Can't wait to see what your son does with his collection!1 year ago
