9th Annual Summer FUN Show
July 9-11th, 2015
The 9th annual summer FUN show was a great success with excellent crowds all three days. Attendance was estimated at 3500, up 500 from last year. There were 210 dealer tables. This show ran very smoothly thanks to pre-show preparation by Convention Coordinator Cindy Wibker and the entire FUN Team. I was in the office most of the show and I heard only one complaint, and that was about parking.
We had six educational seminars, an exhibit area, panning for gold, Coins & Kids area had 209 youngsters, the Young Numismatist program had 25, Scout Merit Badge program had 17, US Postal Service, Coin Club section, Budget section, Foreign & Ancient section, and Wizard Supply. Several specialty clubs met, we had the FUN Coin Club Get Together with 28 attending, and four club busses came in with a total of 137 members on board (Jacksonville 38, Palm Beach 41, Ocala 37, and West Hernando 21). NGC had a sold-out grading seminar on Saturday.
Heritage Auctions always puts on a great multi-day auction at our conventions with record sales. This show was no exception. Heritage sold in excess of $8.3 million. Their auction at the FUN Show in Tampa, January 2016, could push $100 million.
Some of the comments I heard were; “It was the best summer show ever”, “Better than expected”, “I did more business here than the January show”.Security and advertising were excellent as usual. What else can be said, it was another great Summer FUN Show. See you in Tampa, January 7-10, 2016.
