Hilton selected as new ANA host hotel for ANA show in Charlotte

The Hilton Charlotte and Towers will serve as the host hotel for the American Numismatic Association (ANA) National Money ShowSM in Charlotte, North Carolina, March 21-23.

“Construction delays on the Charlotte Westin led us to change host hotels and negotiate a lower room rate,” says ANA Convention Manager Brenda Bishop. “The Hilton is across the street from the Charlotte Convention Center, making it just as convenient as our original hotel site. In many ways, this change in hotels will be ideal for those who attend this show.”

The ANA negotiated a room rate of $99, representing a 23 percent discount on the Hilton’s original offer, for those who previously reserved rooms at the headquarters hotel. The management of the Westin will send letters of apology to those holding reservations for the ANA convention and will call to inform them of the change.

Situated in the heart of Charlotte’s bustling financial district, the Hilton Charlotte and Towers at 222 E. Third St. is connected to the Overstreet Mall walkway, and is only steps from the uptown area’s finest shops, restaurants and cultural riches. Charlotte’s premier four diamond hotel offers more than 400 guest rooms and suites, with concierge-class accommodations in the Tower that feature such amenities as private floor access, continental breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres. The hotel also offers the Union Station Lounge and delightful meals at the Union Grille.

The ANA’s seminar “How to Grade U.S. Coins” (March 18-20) will be held at the Hilton Charlotte and Towers. The course provides intensive, hands-on study of more than 1,000 coins under the tutelage of expert graders from Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). Seminar students will learn how U.S. coins should be graded according to the latest ANA and market standards. They also will participate in group discussions and one-on-one instruction.

“Even though we have this little change in our plans, the National Money ShowSM in Charlotte is shaping up to be a great event,” Bishop says. “Our 220-table bourse is sold out to many of the finest dealers from across the country. Heritage Numismatic Auctions is planning a terrific three-session Signature Auction. We will have special exhibits of North Carolina numismatics, great educational programs and the first-ever family event days. In addition, the Charlotte Coin Club and North Carolina Numismatic Association have done wonderful job of preparing for and promoting this convention.”
